KIT FOR PLASTER WITH COCCIOPESTO RED
The mortar for plaster of lime and cocciopesto is a genuine product composed of only natural components.
The lime and cocciopesto plaster is suitable for both interiors and exteriors, giving healthiness to the rooms due to the breathable macroporous structure.
The lime and cocciopesto plaster has a good elasticity and adheres well to the supports.
Excellent for making plasters for interiors and exteriors. Lime mortar and cocciopesto mixed with the addition of water can be applied by hand or machine, the natural color makes the plaster aesthetically pleasing without having to apply additional finishes or paints.
The excellent vapor permeability also offers a good dehumidifying function. The genuineness and simplicity of the recipe makes this mortar-plaster suitable for old walls as for the creation of new plasters.

Consumption per centimeter of thickness: 15 kg of cocciopesto mortar per square meter of lime plaster and cocciopesto

WHY COMBINE COCCIOPESTO LIME AND POWDER?
If the Romans with Vitruvius ** in the -De architectura- were the first to write about the surprising qualities of hardness and water resistance that reaches the lime and cocciopesto mixture, it seems however that already the Phoenicians and the Israelites used similar mixtures of lime, pozzolanic powders and cocciopesto.
If originally the pozzolanic earth was used as a natural terra cotta powder, today we use artificially baked earth powders, such as the cocciopesto powder contained in the Kit.
The silica present in the cocciopesto powder combines with the lime forming calcium silicate which increases the plaster's strength while maintaining a macroporous structure that guarantees the plaster's breathability.
With the addition of pozzolana or cocciopesto, the lime putty thus acquires hardness and resistance to the action of external agents without the need for other binders such as cement or hydraulic lime.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MIXING THE COMPONENTS
Pour 25 liters of clean water into the concrete mixer
Pour the 3 bags of cocciopesto and run for 1 minute
Add the two bags of seasoned putty
Turn until a homogeneous mixture is obtained
Add the 5 sand bags
Mix again and if necessary add more water until the desired consistency
METHOD OF USE AS PLASTER
The plaster can be applied by hand or machine. Old heterogeneous or irregular supports must first be regularized using the same plaster. The walls must be stable, clean and moistened before application.
A maximum thickness of 1 cm per shot is recommended. On damp walls it is advisable to apply thicknesses of at least 3-4 cm since a good thickness of macroporous plaster will give greater capacity for eliminating moisture from the wall.
It is then necessary to avoid covering the plaster with lime and cocciopesto with waterproofing synthetic paints or coatings as they would prevent the lime recharging process.
Lime and cocciopesto plaster has a coefficient of vapor permeability µ <10.5
- Rustica: with sponging of a second layer of plaster executed fresh on fresh;
- Spatolata: with a smooth spatula passage of a second layer fresh on fresh.
- Civil: with subsequent application of lime plaster with medium grain size.
- Smooth: with the application of fine-grained lime plaster
- Possible coloring with lime paints and natural colors
