INSULATING SHEEP'S WOOL MATS

100% natural, breathable and healthy insulating wool, ideal for Green Building

Thermal and acoustic insulation wool from sheep shearing is a natural, non-toxic material from a renewable source. The mats are made with the total absence of synthetic fibres, resins and adhesives. The production cycle is low-consumption, as mechanical processing is carried out partly cold and only partly hot, with a maximum temperature of 60°C.

Sheep wool insulation in mats 60 cm wide and 6 metres long (12 metres for the 1 cm mat) with a density of 30 kg/mc (100 kg/mc for the 1 cm mat)

Different sized mats are available to order to meet construction requirements.

Sheep wool insulation boards can be stacked in several layers to achieve the required thickness. This makes them ideal for roof and roofing insulation.

The one centimetre thickness is ideal for use as anti-impact and acoustic insulation of floors

The insulation boards are 100 per cent sheep's wool without any resin, gluing or addition of synthetic fibres. Only wool fibres intended for disposal are used. These fibres have an α - helical (curly) structure, are strong and are not used in textile industry production.

A mothproof treatment is carried out to ensure the product's durability.

SHEEP'S WOOL PURIFIES THE AIR

Placed in breathable structures they purify the air of FORMALDEHYDE/Nox, Sox with a capacity of 13 g and 8 g per kg of product.

TRANSPORT PACKAGING

Sheep wool insulation mats are lightly compressed, rolled up and then packed in recycled plastic bags. For deliveries in large quantities, the packs are transported in Big Bags, which are easy to handle by crane The packaging in this case does not exceed 3% by weight of the product and is very robust, preventing damage to the material during handling.

LAYING - SHEEP WOOL INSULATION

The mats with a density of 30 kg/m3 allow, by completely filling the cavity, perfect stability over time in vertical cavities.

For installation, simply fasten the mat at the top and unroll it. The anchoring will only serve for as long as it takes to close the wall.

The mats with a density of 100 kg/mc are ideal as underlays for acoustic insulation and footfall soundproofing.

TECHNICAL DATA THERMAL INSULATION WOOL

Thermal conductivity for density 30 kg/mc: Lambda λ=0.0318 W/mK

Due to their strong hygroscopicity, sheep's wool insulators keep the air retained within them dry, which makes their thermal conductivity stable. This characteristic places them far above other mineral wool or other fibre insulators for performance in the field.

Toxicity: none

Precautionary labelling or precautions for use: none - 28°ADEG. DIR. EEC JULY 2002.

Resilience: for particular uses the mats are mechanically compressible up to high density (approx. 800 Kg/mc) without the fibres losing their elasticity and durability.

Coefficient of resistance to vapour passage: 2 μ (based on data from UNI EN 12086 : 1999).

Vapour permeability: kg/ms Pa >150 weighted values on variable data due to continuous vapour/energy exchange with the atmosphere.

Water vapour absorption capacity: max 33 % of mat weight. Water-impermeable.

The surrounding vapour can be absorbed by a chemical phenomenon and not by capillarity, thus keeping the air and the fibres themselves dry. The potential hygroscopic work of a sheep's wool thermal insulation is 33%. Therefore, the capacity to absorb and release moisture of 3 kg of wool (average insulation with a thickness of 10 cm at density D= 30 kg/mc) is approximately 1 kg of vapour/sq.m., which is sufficient to solve most moisture problems that can occur.

Average non-molecular water content: 17 %.

Weighted sound absorption coefficient: at 6.5 cm thickness D = 30 Kg/ mc equal to 1 (class A).

Weighted specific heat: ≥1.5 KJ/KgK *(note 3)

Fire behaviour: Self-extinguishing - Does not drip - Does not melt - Burns with difficulty and does not transmit the flame.

Oxygen requirement index for combustion: (Limit Oxygen Index) LOI 25, 4 higher than the percentage present in the atmosphere (21%)

Fire temperature: 600° C

Calories: 4.5 per gram.

Operating temperature: +80° C - 60° C.

Behaviour at prolonged temperature changes: no damage.
