Tonachino Centri Storici - Mineral Lime Plaster Finish

Tonachino Centri Storici is a thick lime paint, a mineral decorative coating composed of seasoned slaked lime.

Particularly suitable for the restoration of historical facades, it is available in two sizes: fine grain and medium grain. It is part of the Centri Storici line with the products Primer Centri Storici and Pittura Centri Storici.

Tonachino Centri Storici is a plaster coloured in 159 colours, according to the Spring Color Terre Effervescenti lime paint colour card.

This ancient painting technique is characterised by the integration of the colouring pigment within the last thick layer of the wall, not just on the surface. This allows for much greater stability over time and an even finish over the entire surface of the substrate.

The pre-mixed packaging in buckets makes it a ready-to-use lime paint that can be applied by trowel both indoors and outdoors.

COMPONENTS

Marble powder, calcium carbonates, seasoned slaked lime, silica sand, cellulose thickener, vinyl dispersion less than 3%, starch.

PREPARATION OF THE SUBSTRATE AND APPLICATION OF THE PLASTER

For a correct and lasting application of the product, respect the following indications:

The substrates to be treated must be sound, consistent, homogeneous, clean, free of mould, lichen, greasy and/or oily residues, dust and/or particles of any kind and damaged by rising damp. Any loose and unstable parts must be removed in order to restore the optimal suitability of the substrate, a necessary condition for correct application of the product.

Tonachino Centri Storici cannot be applied on existing old or new paint layers unless it has been previously checked that they are perfectly anchored, that they have the necessary degree of absorption and that the tensile strength of a mineral paint has been verified. If the underlying layers do not meet these requirements, we recommend total or partial removal.

Allow at least 6-8 hours between coats, ensuring that the surface to be painted is completely dry. The working temperature of the surfaces to be painted must be between 7°C and 30°C, with a humidity level not exceeding 80%, both during application and in the following 48 hours, protecting from rain, direct sunlight and wind.

Keep the surface protected from rain for at least 72 hours after applying the cycle.

On new plaster based on lime and cement, apply our Ecological Fixative and then our Primer Centri Storici.

On plasters based on natural hydraulic lime and slaked lime, apply our Primer Centri Storici primer.

On substrates where it is necessary to uniform the surface both in the presence of small imperfections and in the presence of differences in absorption, apply our Ecological Fixative and then our Primer Centri Storici primer.

On finished gypsum-based surfaces, it is necessary to check compatibility with Tonachino CentriStorici on site. In the case of accentuated dusting or abnormal absorption, it is necessary to apply our Ecological Fixative and then our CentriStorici Primer.

On plasterboard and plasterboard it is best to level the entire surface with our Natural Stucco.

Then proceed with our Ecological Fixative and our Primer Centri Storici.

Mix well before and during use with a low speed mixer.

Allow 6-8 hours between coats, making sure the surface is uniformly dry. The working temperature of the surfaces must be between 7°C and 30°C, and the ambient humidity must not exceed 80%, both during application and in the following 48 hours.

APPLICATION TIPS

In order to avoid the possibility of visible joints, it is necessary to interrupt work at stringcourses or edges.

DECORATIVE EFFECTS

SPONGED TEXTURED EFFECT: apply the second coat of Tonachino Centri Storici on a dry surface. Before the product dries, apply a sponge trowel to bring out the grains and determine the texture of the surface.

WAXED EFFECT: apply a coat of Balsamo di Cera (cycle for interiors) with a brush on the completely dry laminated surface. To avoid the toning of the natural wax, choose the Protettivo Cerosoformulato with white wax (cycle for exterior).

PRODUCT COLOURING

Spring Color colours are obtained from natural pigments and are handcrafted.

Any differences in shade are due to the natural variability of the earth and raw materials, the substrate, the correct dispersion procedure, the origin of the pigments, the climatic conditions and the experience of the applicator. In lime products, the colour undergoes greater variability, so it is advisable to test its fidelity and, if necessary, to accompany the colour. Spring Color colours its finishes with selected and tested earths and oxides.

The use of other types of colours and ingredients does not bind the company in any way.
